Tears to Distraction was the first collection produced entirely in Logic Pro, moving from Garageband which I’d used for all my previous recording work. I’d actually had Logic setup for a year or so previously, but quite frankly, had never really got to grips with it well enough to make the production sound as good as I could with Garageband, for which I’d become quite accomplished. However, I got hold of a great “How to….” book, and now I can do things in Logic I could never do in GB….

Tears for Distraction, as the title track, is by far my favourite – really fun to play, and has a great bass line. Loss of a Mad Man has a really nice melody (inspired, believe it or not, by my kids favourite tv programme, “Doctor Who”), whilst the other real highlight is “Summeriferous” – a cacophony of ideas, that came out sounding really upbeat and original I think.

Written, performed, produced and recorded by Mark J. Turner.Back to albums
