Passing on Something Special was completed in November 2014. This was my 17th “album” in 8 years, which is both gratifying and slightly depressing. Middle age blues I guess. This album has a much more gritty sound using my ESP and Digitech effects rack for the primary sounds, with only on-board effects for some of the lead parts. It has one stand out track for me, ‘So Beautiful’ which I love. I’m updating this commentary almost ten years later from when I first put it up, and I recognise now I’d been going through something very, very difficult personally that year – not something I’m proud of, but also something that for me at least, ended very happily. Unfortunately, as most of these pieces of music were put together, that didn’t seem very likely and I feel it shows….
